One April Day

Nancy

An April sun
Blushes scarlet
Resigned
To
Setting

From faded brilliance
An April twilight
Tells
My
Name

I sense
A press
Upon my heart
A revelation
I can
Almost
Hear…

Embrace
This night

Half hidden
The moon
Far off
Dawn’s light

Walk
The dusky meadow grasses

Turn your face
To drowsy mists

Draw near
Her sodded bed
Her
Bier
But for your coming

Kneel
Gather
Hope
Carry home
Your
Healing

Live
Long
The privileged years
Strengthened
In shared sorrows
Defined
In holy joys
Each moment
A fullness
Of
Loving

~

An April echo
Tranquil
True

A promise made
Kept

In
April
Hearts

  1. Oh, Nancy. It's so good to see you again :)

I've done a lot of thinking about that April night recently, of what joy and magic eventually came out of the events of that night. You tell such a story here.

    Wonderful job,

    Krista

  2. Nancy,

    'Live
    Long
    The privileged years
    Strengthened
    In shared sorrows
    Defined
    In holy joys
    Each moment
    A fullness
    Of
    Loving'

this stands out to me, brings me in, captures moments of shared sorrows with V n C, of holy joys and lets me remember that each moment they have is a moment of full loving however it makes me remember my shared sorrows with my husband, our holy joys and that each moment we have should be a fullness of loving.

Thank you Nancy for not just beautiful words about our favorite couple but for sharing your love of them, (for H), and helping me "see" that April night :D

    Brit

  3. You capture Love - all Love, not just V&C's - so beautifully, Nancy! Thank you, always, for sharing this beauty with us.

  4. This story-poem - for to me, that is what it is - is, in my head, intensely visual. And it is a story expansion - what we didn't see, but what must have been. The picture is so clear: the press upon his heart - the attunement to a music unheard - and then - oh! - the closer view as he turns his face into the mist. And the sweet coda, Nancy, of a promise kept through time tells us how it had to be. This is breathtaking. It is new, it is glorious, every time I read it.

  5. Krista, thank you. I should have said that weeks ago. I'm sorry. Your welcome wish is treasured. Nancy

  6. I apologize for not being here with a loud and deeply meant THANK YOU, Brit, sooner than now. I can't help but be amazed that my little piece inspired you this way. Thank you for making my poor efforts important. Nancy

  7. Ah, my dear Friend, OK Goode...and a friend by any name is precious, as you know you are! Thank you for ALL the kind words. Nancy

  8. You must know, dear Ophelia, that your words are more poetic than any line in April Night. You honor me beyond my efforts. You inspire me. Thank you. Nancy
