Rivers

Nancy

I miss you

Near
As my heart
Distant
Beyond the count of steps

Despair
Chooses you
You
It
Bleak companions
Darker than the depths
You would consult

What comfort
Vincent
A secret river
Senseless
Deaf

I’m a river
Tides untamed
Mine
A course of tears

I do not understand
Rivers

Out here
A million lights to draw my eye
Cannot
Engage my hope

In there
A haunted space
Refuse
Of an empty life

There is no city
I have no home

Nothing

Come back to me

Rivers
Vincent
Cities
Seek their destiny
Without you

I
Cannot

  1. Oh, Nancy. This is wonderful---what a fantastic surprise to see something new from you! (And how wonderful that you're feeling well enough to write--a double blessing. :)

I always thought Catherine didn't get nearly enough credit for letting Vincent have his space when he needed it---the hardest part of their love must have been stepping back and letting him fight his demons on his own.

Great job---and it's so good to see you again. :)

  2. You are beyond kind, Krista. Thank you. That is an intriguing insight...Catherine not getting credit for letting Vincent have his space...and how often she did that!!!
The Dedication is the really important part of this poem's posting. You and all the others 'shared my space' at a time I needed the company! :) Thank you and everyone for that! Nancy
